Holistic Care for Dog Skin Problems
Where dog skin problems are concerned, sometimes we can be left confused. We've de-flead them, de-flead the house - and they're still scratching!
Or worse - there are sore, dry or scabby spots somewhere on your lovely pooch's coat. Your dog's health is a constant concern. If your canine companion gets dog skin problems, it can mean a whole lot of stress for you too.
Most often us would probably take our dog to the vet when faced with these canine skin conditions. But this can be a pricey affair. Also, it often involves nasty medication such as cortizone and steroid treatments, which can have harmful negative effects.
So why not educate ourselves about our dog's skin and dog skin problems which can arise - and treat them ourselves. Home-made dog skin treatments can be hugely effective, cheap and have no harmful side-effects.
As outlined on the home page, the simpler and more natural the skin care you use on youself, the better. And just like with us humans, it is often best to simplify with our pets too.
Go back to basics with your pet's skin care, taking a holistic and natural approach - why should their skin be any less sensitive than ours? Plants and herbs from our garden, bits and pieces from the kitchen cupboard, and essential oils can prove to be effective treatments for a variety of dog skin problems
With serious medical conditions, of course you should call the vet. But with skin problems and other minor ailments - the kind you would treat at home if you or your kids had it - why not treat your pet at home too?
In her book, Linda Kajda brings together a wealth of
solutions for dog skin problems.
Her ebook might look a bit brash and over-the-top to a rather reserved British eye, like mine, but it really is packed full of information and useful advice.
There are suggestions for solutions to dog allergies, both environmental and food allergies. Skin conditions which I had seen before, but never known what they were (such as dog acne) are explained and gentle dog skin solutions suggested, that you can make at home yourself.
Also alternatives to conventional treatments are given, such as a herbal spray made with natural infusions and essential oils to deter fleas, which can be used on your pet (and keep them smelling fresh too!) and around the house. And tea bags as a gentle poultice on wounds to speed up healing - similar to the effect of cortizone cream.
There are, I am sure, a wealth of books on the market with simple, natural, home-made dog skin problem solutions. But Linda's book is simple and easy to absorb, and packed full of great hints and tips, as well as information on how our dog's skin works.
(Click here if you would like to take a look at her overview of the ebook - remember, don't take it at face value if the bright and American sales style doesn't really appeal to you - the book itself is packed full of useful info).
